At Little Scooters Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten, we believe children learn best when they are in a safe, caring, supported and supervised environment where they feel comfortable and empowered to try new things and meet new people. We believe the Centre functions best when families feel involved and valued.

We believe children learn and develop skills (physical, cognitive, emotional and social) through educational, creative and challenging play based experiences and that these experiences are most effective when they are based on –

  • both individual and group observations and interests
  • children’s input
  • family input, and
  • intentional teaching.

We recognise the importance of family partnerships and believe our service will be enriched through their valuable contributions. We accept each child and family in relation to their values, culture, beliefs and abilities.

We support inclusive practices and ensure experiences are designed so all children can be actively involved in the program, whether working individually (independence and confidence as an individual) or in a group (interactions with other children and educators).

We aim to create an environment which empowers children to ask questions, one which supports them to explore, discover and create and we believe having this type of environment will aid the children in achieving the three B’s – Being, Belonging and Becoming as outlined in the Early Year’s Learning Framework.

Positive encouragement and reinforcement are used as tools to direct and promote behaviour and through positive encouragement and stimulating learning experiences we aim to build high self-esteem and self-worth. We believe that the educator is responsible for facilitating learning in the classroom and for scaffolding the children so they can reach their full potential.

We acknowledge the original custodians of this land and feel that having a hands-on approach to our environment will encourage educators and children to discover and form a strong respect for the land, animals and nature.

We value the community, families, children and staff. We understand that these people are vital to the running of a high-quality Centre. We strive for diversity and believe that all staff, families and children should be treated with respect, fairness and equity. We are the educators, motivators, inspirers and disciplinarians for the children. What we believe as educators will be reflected in the growth of each child. By joining educators, families, and communities together as one, we are building positive foundations for the children who will be the products of our future.
